Many of us have unconscious "subroutines" that trigger the exact moment we open our IDE, fire up Figma, or start writing a demanding report. We bite our nails, we touch our faces continuously, or we pull our beards.
A hand moving toward the mouth or face can have many meanings. AIPET does not diagnose the reason. It can simply notice a supported visual pattern and make it easier for you to become aware of it.
Awareness before judgment
Automatic habits are easy to miss while attention is on demanding work. A timely cue can create a moment to choose what happens next, without shame or claims of treatment.
- Physical deterrents: Bitter-tasting nail polish only works after you've already started the action and broken your flow.
- Standard tracking software: Traditional screen time trackers only care if you've spent too much time on YouTube, they have zero context on your physical state.
- Timers: A rigid Pomodoro timer may help some people, but it does not observe physical patterns.
From Unconscious Distraction to Real-Time Awareness
AIPET uses local computer vision to support lightweight awareness while you work. The goal is a subtle cue, not a restriction or a psychological interpretation.
- Visual pattern recognition: With permission, AIPET can detect supported hand-to-mouth and face-touching patterns using your Mac's camera.
- Judgment-Free Feedback: When the AI detects the gesture, it sends a subtle signal. Not a jarring system error, but a friendly visual nudge.
- Your choice: The reminder creates a moment of awareness; what you do with it remains up to you.
AIPET's gentle reminder
When AIPET notices a supported pattern, the pet can respond with a brief visual or spoken cue. It does not infer stress, diagnose a condition, or judge the behavior.
Sensitive recognition stays local
Webcam frames for these recognition features are processed on your Mac and are not uploaded for AI processing. AIPET still contacts its servers for purchase, activation, downloads, and updates.
AIPET is a companion and awareness tool, not a medical device or a substitute for professional care.
